Accounts Clerk / Optical Assistant

The Accounts Clerk / Optical Assistant will perform various cashier-related and accounting functions to support the retail store’s daily operations. The designate will also contribute to an exceptional retail experience, selecting the right products for our customers’ eyewear and eyecare needs and providing any after-care services. Previous experience in the optical/retail industry will be considered an asset.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Promote Value Optical Limited consistently as the premier choice for eye examinations; spectacles, contact lenses fittings and all other optical needs.
  • Acts promptly in greeting all customers; asks appropriate questions to ascertain customer needs and acts in accordance with the Company’s policy to ensure that all customer needs are met.
  • Assists customers with the selection of frames by offering commentary on styles and colours, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
  • Utilizes creative sales techniques to sell the Company’s offering of lenses, frames, spectacles, contact lenses and related accessories based on identified customer needs.
  • Educates customers on eyeglasses and contact lenses use and care.
  • Accurately records and submits work orders, reports and any other retail documentation as required.
  • Assist with requisition of goods for sale, stationery, and sundry items from Administrative Office to be completed by the given date once per month.
  • Verify patient information for accuracy
  • Prepare and complete MS Excel Reports

Qualifications:

  • Must have 1-year minimum Cashier’s experience.
  • Five (5) CSEC passes inclusive of Mathematics and English.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel / Word applications.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in a fast paced, customer-driven environment will be an asset.

Branch Administrator

Responsible for the overall management of branch operations, staff performance, customer experience, and sales targets, ensuring efficient daily operations and high service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee daily branch operations including inventory, equipment maintenance, and store readiness
  • Manage staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and smooth operations
  • Monitor customer flow and bookings to support service delivery and business growth
  • Ensure compliance with opening/closing procedures, safety protocols, and housekeeping standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and audit-ready records
  • Collaborate with Optician/Lead Dispenser to resolve customer issues

People Management

  • Lead, coach, and motivate staff to deliver excellent customer service
  • Conduct performance appraisals and implement training/development plans
  • Address and escalate performance or disciplinary matters in line with HR policies
  • Manage attendance, leave processes, and time sheet submissions

Financial & Sales Oversight

  • Oversee basic cash handling and ensure adherence to accounting procedures
  • Ensure all transactions are properly invoiced and compliant
  • Drive achievement of branch sales targets and key product metrics

Customer Experience

  • Handle and resolve customer concerns within established turnaround times
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction, feedback scores, and service standards

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field or minimum 5 years’ supervisory/management experience in customer service
  • Proficiency in MS Office/Office 365
  • Optical certification (OCPP/ABO) – an asset

Optical Assistant / Marketing Promoter

The Optical Assistant/ Marketing Promoter acts as a Brand Ambassador, offering an exceptional retail experience for our customers, from a warm and professional welcome to advising patients in the selection of the right products for their eyecare needs and extending to patient after-care services. They will promote our products and services in a manner that instils confidence in our customers and maintains the company standard of customer service excellence.

Duties and responsibilities – Optical Assistant

  • Responds and records all incoming customer calls and or issues, escalating in a timely manner to the Branch Administrator for follow-up and or resolution as required.
  • Accurately records and submits work orders, reports and any other retail documentation as required.
  • With training and guidance, performs basic repairs or adjustments to spectacles for existing and customers as needed.
  • Assists with the filing and maintenance of all customer information and records.
  • Ensures that retail display racks are always properly and adequately stocked with frames.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of all equipment and workstations daily.
  • Participates in all training and educational activities necessary to fulfil at least the minimum requirements as specified within your departmental goals. This is in addition to the completion of any activities necessary for the maintenance of professional affiliations or organizational requirements.
  • Provides periodic relief to Accounts Clerk in cashing support. Additional duties may include but are not limited to daily reporting, updating of patient information on the Practice Management software and acting as a custodian for deposits and receipts.
  • Set up booths or promotional stands and arrange products to look tidy and attractive to customers.
  • Disseminate product samples, brochures, flyers etc. at promotional events.
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the Branch Administrator or designated representative.
