The lens that reads the road before you do.
The world’s only sunglass lens that continuously adapts its colour and darkness to every light condition — and the only photochromic lens that works inside your car.
Always polarized. Continuously adaptive. Built to work behind the windscreen.
Smart lens. Steady vision.
Most lenses give you one fixed level of tint. Drivewear reads the light around you and shifts colour and darkness automatically — three distinct states, continuously tuned to exactly where you are and what you need.
Olive Green.
Vision when light is flat.
On cloudy days, flat light strips contrast from the world around you — making depth and detail harder to judge. Drivewear lightens to a high-contrast olive tone that brings definition back to low-light scenes. And still polarized, still glare-free.
Copper.
Built for the road.
Car windscreens block UV light — meaning standard photochromic lenses stay clear at the wheel. Drivewear is different. It responds to visible light too, shifting to a copper tone that sharpens contrast, enhances traffic signal recognition and blocks road glare.
Dark Brown.
Maximum protection.
When the sun is at its most intense, Drivewear responds by shifting to its darkest state. The rich dark brown colour delivers deep contrast and vibrant colour perception, while the polarizer eliminates blinding glare. You see the world vividly — without squinting.
The in-car photochromic lens
Standard photochromic lenses rely on UV light to activate — and most car windscreens block UV. So inside a vehicle, those lenses stay clear.
UV blocked by windscreen = Stays clear
Visible light activates = Adapts & darkens
In-Car State
Copper tint sharpens contrast and blocks dashboard glare.
Patented. Proven. Precisely engineered.
Transitions® Photochromic
Drivewear uses a breakthrough photochromic system that responds to both UV and visible light — not just UV like conventional photochromics. This is what makes adaptation possible inside a car.
NuPolar® Polarization
A high-efficiency polarizing filter blocks glare from roads, water, bonnets and dashboards while letting the maximum amount of good light through. Always on.
Patented Worldwide
The combination of these two technologies is so advanced that patents have been granted across multiple countries. This is fundamental lens technology, not a simple tint or coating.
100% UV Protection
Whether the lens is at its lightest olive state or its darkest brown, it blocks 100% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. Full protection is not conditional on how dark the lens is.
Why ordinary sunglasses — and ordinary photochromics — aren't enough.
Drivewear was built to solve the compromises of standard eyewear. It is the only lens in the world that is always polarized, continuously adaptive, and genuinely functional in every daylight environment.
Fixed Tint Sunglasses
- Too dark for overcast days
- May not offer enough protection in extreme glare
- Cannot adapt to changing light
Standard Photochromic
- Stay clear inside the car
- Often not polarized (don't block glare)
- Rely only on UV light to darken
Transitions® Drivewear®
- Darkens behind the windscreen
- Always polarized to block blinding glare
- Adapts dynamically to both UV and visible light
One lens. Every place the light changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't regular photochromic lenses work in the car?
Standard photochromic lenses activate by reacting to UV light. Car windscreens are designed to block UV — so inside a vehicle, those lenses receive no UV signal and remain clear. Drivewear was engineered to respond to both UV and visible light, meaning it genuinely adapts while you’re driving. This is the core breakthrough that makes it unique.
Can I get Drivewear in my prescription?
Yes. Drivewear is available as a prescription lens at Value Optical, fitted into Drivewear frames or your own frame. Ask our opticians about compatible frame options during your consultation.
Is Drivewear suitable for driving at night?
No. Drivewear is designed for daytime and daylight driving conditions only, just like regular sunglasses. It should not be worn after dusk or in low-light nighttime conditions. For night driving glare, ask our team about LED PRO clear lenses instead.
How is Drivewear different from regular polarized sunglasses?
A standard polarized sunglass has a fixed tint — useful in some conditions, too dark in others, and does nothing inside the car. Drivewear is always polarized and also photochromic, so it adjusts darkness and colour automatically across three states depending on the light you’re in. It is the only sunglass lens in the world that combines these two technologies in a way that works behind the windscreen.
